The majority of doctors in Sendai speak English but not their staff. It is a good idea to keep Google Translator up on your phone as well as a dictionary. The listed doctors below are ones we have had experience dealing with and are excellent providers. The costs for health care in Japan are very reasonable. The vast majority of doctors will not talk to you over the phone if you call.

Applying for health care can be done at your local ward office.

HERE IS A LINK TO FIND YOUR LOCAL WARD OFFICE IN SENDAI

The ward office is also where you will apply to become a resident and various other activities. You will need a friend who is Japanese or fluent in Japanese as most staff in ward offices in Sendai do not speak English. You will need your visa and proof of income. If you are a start-up company you can expect to pay very low monthly payment as Japan considers you as not earning income.

During this visit you will also sign up for the social program where Japan will pay you, per month for your child. Japan pays you once every four months-15 February; 15 June; 15 October.
